Frequently asked questions
Which regime is better for me?
It depends on your deductions. The New regime has lower slab rates and a higher 87A rebate (nil tax up to ₹12L taxable) but few deductions; the Old regime is better when you claim large 80C/80D/HRA deductions. This tool computes both and highlights the cheaper one.
What standard deduction is applied?
For salaried taxpayers: ₹75,000 under the New regime and ₹50,000 under the Old regime. Untick "salaried" to remove it.
Is this exact?
It is a close estimate for FY 2025-26 using the standard slabs, 87A rebate, surcharge bands and 4% cess. It does not model every special income head or deduction — confirm with your CA before filing.
