Can I switch between the Desktop and Cloud editions later?
Yes — it is one LekhaPro account. You pick an edition at signup and can talk to us about moving between them; your subscription stays the same.
Do both editions cost the same?
Both editions run on the same plans (Basic, Pro, Enterprise). The accounting core is included in every plan; conversational AI is the Enterprise add-on. See the pricing page for current INR plans.
Do both editions use the same GST and accounting engine?
Yes. Invoicing, posted double-entry accounting, inventory with COGS and GSTR-1/3B work the same way in both. The Cloud edition adds CRM/RevOps and industry packs on top.
Is my data safe on either edition?
On Desktop your books stay on your machine in a local database with scheduled backups you hold. On Cloud your data is isolated in your own tenant by row-level security enforced in the database itself, and never used to train models.
Which edition fits a single shop, and which fits branches?
For one location — or several counters on one LAN, where one machine holds the books and the counters connect to it — Desktop is the natural fit: fast, offline, data on your premises. Once you run branches or people work from other cities, Cloud is built for it, with branch-wise GST and profitability reporting and access from any browser.
Which edition should I choose if my internet is unreliable?
Desktop — it runs fully offline, and only the AI features and billing ever need a connection. On Cloud the browser needs internet, with one deliberate exception: the POS till keeps selling through an outage by queueing sales locally and replaying them with an idempotency key once you are back online. For routine, long outages, Desktop is the safer default.
What do I get only on the Cloud edition?
The breadth. Cloud carries 20 business modules and 15 industry packs, self-service portals where your vendors and customers log in themselves, and the CRM and RevOps layer shown in the table above. Desktop deliberately stays a focused offline accounting, invoicing and inventory app; if those Cloud-only pieces matter to you, the edition choice is effectively made.
What can only the Desktop edition do?
Run with no internet at all: the books live in a local SQLite database on your machine, with scheduled backups you control — encrypted when you set a backup passphrase, and the licence carries a 30-day offline grace period. It prints silently to 80mm thermal counter printers and serves additional counters over LAN client–server. The Cloud edition’s only offline behaviour is the POS till queue, so if these are requirements, choose Desktop.
Is Manufacturing the same on both editions?
No — it is the clearest case of edition depth differing. Desktop covers single-level BOM and production vouchers, which suits straightforward assembly. Routings, work centres, MES, quality and MRP exist only on Cloud. Everything else in the shared core — invoicing, posted double-entry accounting, inventory with COGS, GSTR-1/3B — behaves identically, as the table above shows.
Does the edition change how many devices or users I get?
No — the tier does. One plan covers either edition, and the tier sets the device count: one device on the entry plan, two to three on Pro, and more on Enterprise. On Desktop those are LAN counters connecting to the machine that holds the books; on Cloud they are browser logins. The full double-entry core is in every tier on both editions.
