What this actually means in practice
Sovereignty is a plain question: where is the file, and who can read it without asking you? In the Desktop edition your books are a local database on your own machine, backed up on a schedule, encrypted, to a destination you nominate. Our servers hold your account, your subscription and your licence, and nothing else — no ledger, no party list, no invoice. Nobody at LekhaPro can open your books, because they were never sent to us.
Continuity follows from the same arrangement. When the broadband fails, when the router hangs, when the tax portal is slow on the due date, or on an afternoon when our own service is unwell, your billing and your accounts are untouched, because none of them was ever in the request path. Only three things wait for a line: live filing through your provider, product updates, and the occasional licence check.
Leaving deserves the same plainness. Your books export as Tally XML — masters and posted vouchers, importable into TallyPrime — as Excel for the working registers and as PDF for the statements, and you already hold the encrypted backup file itself. There is no export fee, no notice period and no format only we can read. A product that keeps customers by making departure expensive has stopped competing on its merits.

What it does not do
- · This describes the Desktop edition. The Cloud edition runs in a browser and needs a working connection by definition; the edition is chosen at registration.
- · Offline means offline. E-invoice and e-way documents are prepared and wait; the portal cannot be reached without a line.
- · A backup protects you only if its destination survives the same accident as the PC. A second disk, or a second location, remains your responsibility.
Frequently asked
Does anything get uploaded to a server?
No. Your books stay in a local database on your PC. The cloud is only used for your account/subscription and the optional AI gateway — never your ledger.
Can I still file GST offline?
Yes — GSTR-1/3B, e-invoice and e-way bill JSON are generated offline. Live filing is optional, through your own GST Suvidha Provider.
What if my internet is down for days?
Everything keeps working. The app only needs a connection occasionally to validate your subscription and to auto-update.
If my books never leave my machine, what exactly is on your servers?
Your account: the login, the company name on the subscription, the plan and billing state, licence validity and update entitlement. No ledger, no invoices, no party or item masters. If you use the Enterprise conversational AI, a snapshot goes to the gateway for that question alone, and provider keys never touch your machine.
What does leaving with my data actually involve?
Three files, taken whenever you like: a Tally XML export of masters and posted vouchers, Excel exports of the working registers, and PDF statements for the periods you want to keep. The encrypted backup is already in your hands. Nothing is withheld, nothing is charged for, and no step requires our cooperation.

No. Offline · private is part of the accounting core rather than a paid add-on, so data stays yours is there on the entry tier exactly as it is on the highest one. What the tiers change is reach and depth — devices, multi-branch and multi-warehouse reporting, and whether the conversational AI copilots are switched on.
Can I try Offline · private before committing?

Is anything in Offline · private generated by AI?
None of the figures. Everything no internet needed produces is computed by tested engines and would be identical with the model switched off — what AI contributes is the sentence around a number and the routing that brings the right one to your attention. Nothing it writes posts to your books without your approval.
