What is the GSTIN check digit?
The 15th character is a checksum computed from the first 14 using an official mod-36 algorithm. If it does not match, the GSTIN has a typo or is invalid.
What does a GSTIN contain?
Characters 1–2 are the state code, 3–12 are the PAN of the business, 13 is the entity/registration number for that PAN in the state, 14 is "Z" by default, and 15 is the checksum.
