GST accounting, built for retail & shops

Run the counter even when the internet drops. LekhaPro bills on an 80mm thermal printer, reads barcodes, keeps live stock, and posts every sale to a real double-entry ledger so your day-end cash and GST tie out by themselves.

What gets in the way today

  • Queues build when billing is slow

Hunting for items, typing rates and re-keying tax kills the counter at peak hours. You need a scan-and-print rhythm, not a form to fill.

  • Internet decides whether you can sell

Cloud-only tools freeze when the line drops. A shop that can not raise a bill loses the sale and the customer.

  • Stock and cash never quite match

Counter sales, returns and petty cash drift apart, and you only find out at month-end when the GST does not reconcile.

How LekhaPro fits your work

Every capability below is built in — offline-first, GST-correct by construction, and posted to a real double-entry ledger.

  • 80mm thermal POS with barcode

Scan an item, quantity defaults to one, GST is applied from the item master, and the receipt prints on a standard 80mm thermal roll. Built for speed at the counter.

  • Works fully offline

The whole product runs on your machine. Bill, print and update stock with zero internet — sync and reporting happen on your terms, not the network’s.

  • Live stock with low-stock alerts

Every sale, purchase and return moves stock in real time using weighted-average costing, and fast-movers that dip below your reorder level surface as alerts.

  • GST-correct receipts by construction

CGST/SGST for local sales and IGST for inter-state are split automatically from HSN and place of supply, so your sales register is GSTR-1 ready.

  • Day-end cash and ledger that tie out

Each bill posts to a real double-entry GL, so sales, cash, card and UPI collections reconcile against your counter total at close.

  • Customer Intelligence for regulars

See who buys what and how often, so you can spot your best regulars and slow-paying credit customers without exporting to a spreadsheet.

How a typical day looks

  1. 1

Open the shop, switch on the thermal printer, and the counter is ready offline.

  2. 2

Scan items as customers reach the till; quantities and GST fill in from the item master.

  3. 3

Take cash, card or UPI, print the 80mm receipt, and stock drops instantly.

  4. 4

Handle a return or exchange — it reverses stock and the ledger entry cleanly.

  5. 5

At close, match the cash drawer to the day-end summary and review low-stock alerts before you reorder.

Questions retail & shops ask

Can I bill if the internet goes down?

Yes. LekhaPro is offline-first and runs on your computer, so billing, printing and stock updates all work with no connection. Internet is only needed for optional online actions like live e-invoicing through your own GSP.

Does it work with a thermal printer and barcode scanner?

Yes. It prints standard 80mm thermal receipts and reads barcodes through any USB scanner, so the counter flow is scan, take payment, print.

Will my counter sales be GST-ready for GSTR-1?

Yes. Every receipt splits CGST/SGST or IGST from the HSN and place of supply and posts to a proper sales register, which feeds your GSTR-1 directly.

Is there a dedicated Retail & Shops pack, or is this the general product?

There is a dedicated pack: Retail POS. It ships as a real application rather than a renamed field set — Counters and shifts, coupons and gift cards, membership and loyalty, shelves and planograms, offline drafts and split tenders. It runs over the same double-entry books as everything else, so nothing about your ledger changes when you switch it on.

Which edition should a retail & shops business choose?

The Cloud edition. Retail POS is a Cloud Suite application, so the depth described on this page is not in the Desktop edition. The Desktop edition still runs your books, GST and stock offline — it just does not carry this pack.

What does LekhaPro give a retail & shops business specifically?

Fast counter billing on 80mm thermal, barcode scanning, and a day-end cash and GST picture in one screen. Concretely: 80mm thermal POS with barcode, works fully offline, live stock with low-stock alerts and GST-correct receipts by construction — every one of them a working screen described in full further up this page, not a roadmap item.

What problems does this actually solve?

The ones this trade runs into rather than the ones that demo well: queues build when billing is slow, internet decides whether you can sell and stock and cash never quite match. Each is set out with its cause above, because a business recognising its own problem in writing is worth more than a feature list it has to translate.

What does a normal day look like once it is running?

In order: open the shop, switch on the thermal printer, and the counter is ready offline., scan items as customers reach the till; quantities and GST fill in from the item master., take cash, card or UPI, print the 80mm receipt, and stock drops instantly. and handle a return or exchange — it reverses stock and the ledger entry cleanly.. It is one sequence in one application, which is the point — the alternative is the same day spread over a billing tool, a spreadsheet and an accountant's inbox.

Can I move across from what I use today?

Masters and opening balances come across; transaction history does not. There is no automated Tally import yet — it is on the roadmap, and we would rather say so than oversell it. You start clean on a date you choose and keep the old system as a read-only archive, which is why most businesses switch at the start of a financial year or quarter.

Does this still work with more than one location or company?

Yes. Several companies and financial years live under one login with separate books and their own numbering, and you switch between them without logging out. Multi-branch and multi-warehouse reporting is a plan-tier decision rather than a different product.
