What this actually means in practice

A business that sells to distributors, dealers and retail counters is not running one price — it is running several, and the same item legitimately leaves the godown at three different rates on the same day. Each list needs a class, a validity period and its own rates, including quantity breakpoints where a larger order earns a better figure. Without effective dates, a superseded list keeps billing quietly long after the revision was agreed.

The harder problem is not storing rates but explaining them. When a customer queries a figure, the answer has to be which list it came from and why that list won — party assignment beats the default list, a quantity tier beats the flat rate on the same list, and a manual override beats everything but should be visible as an override. LekhaPro resolves the rate deterministically and returns the source alongside it.

Margin discipline is the third leg. Rates set once and never revisited drift below landed cost as purchase prices move, and the loss hides inside a healthy-looking turnover. Suggested selling prices are computed from weighted-average cost and a target margin, nudged by how the item is actually moving, and never fall below cost — the suggestion is advice for a human, not an automatic repricing of your lists.

What’s included

  • Quantity slab pricing
  • Schemes & discounts
  • Margin-aware suggestions
  • Auto-apply at billing
  • GST-correct

What it does not do

  • · A price list is a default, not a hard control: anyone permitted to edit a rate can override the resolved figure at billing.
  • · Price suggestions are advice from your own cost and demand — LekhaPro reprices no list automatically and reads no competitor or market feed.
  • · No payroll module, and there is no automated import of price lists from another package; masters come in from a spreadsheet.

Frequently asked

Can I set different rates per customer?

Yes — customer- and quantity-wise price lists apply the right rate automatically at billing.

Does it suggest prices?

Yes — margin-aware suggested selling prices come from cost and demand.

Is it offline?

Yes — pricing and billing run offline.

How do I know which price list a rate came from?

Resolution is deterministic and reports its own source. The engine checks the lists assigned to that customer in priority order, then the quantity tier the order reaches on the winning list, then the default list, and falls back to the item master only when no list carries the product. The answer returned carries the rate and the list it came from.

Can one product hold several rates on the same list?

Yes — that is what quantity tiers are for. A product can hold several rows on one list with different minimum quantities, and billing picks the highest tier the ordered quantity reaches. A list written without tiers simply carries one flat rate per product, so tiered and flat items sit on the same price list without special handling.

What exactly is included in Price lists · pricing?

customer-wise price lists, quantity slab pricing, schemes & discounts, margin-aware suggestions, auto-apply at billing and GST-correct, and 1 more. Every item on that list is a working screen you can open in the trial rather than a capability described in the abstract.

How is price lists · pricing handled differently here?

It rests on the right rate, automatically, slabs & schemes and margin-aware. The distinction that matters is that these are structural rather than cosmetic — the behaviour is built into how records are posted, not layered on as a report you have to remember to run.

Does Price lists · pricing post to the real books?

Yes, and that is the whole reason it lives in this product rather than beside it. What the right rate, automatically records lands in the same posted double-entry ledger the Trial Balance, P&L and GST returns are built from — so there is no second set of price lists · pricing numbers to reconcile against the first.

How does Price lists · pricing affect my GST?

It feeds it directly rather than sitting alongside it. CGST/SGST and IGST are split from HSN or SAC and place of supply as each document is raised, so whatever price lists · pricing produces is already correct when GSTR-1, 3B and 2B reconciliation are drawn off the same books. The return matches the accounts because it was never a separate exercise.

Can I try Price lists · pricing before committing?

Yes — 14 days, no card. Test price lists · pricing against your own masters and your own transactions rather than sample data: the questions worth answering here are about your business's edge cases, and a demo dataset is built not to have any.
