What this actually means in practice
Retail medicine is priced backwards from most trade. The MRP is printed on the strip, the customer pays exactly that, and the tax already sits inside the figure — so the software has to derive the taxable value out of the amount collected instead of adding tax on top of a rate. LekhaPro reconstitutes that split at the rate notified for the category, so taxable value, tax and cess add back to the printed MRP to the paisa.
The arithmetic matters because everything downstream leans on it. Get it wrong and the counter tallies while GSTR-1 does not, or the margin report reads flatteringly high because tax is sitting inside revenue. Doing it line by line, per batch, means a scheme discount, a loose-pack sale and a full-strip sale all round consistently, and the day's collection reconciles against the taxable turnover it represents without anyone working backwards in a spreadsheet.
Returns follow the same discipline. A partial return is a credit note against the original bill — the quantity goes back to its own batch with its own expiry, output tax reverses, and either the drawer or the customer's balance adjusts. At close, the counter session is shut with a denomination-wise count against expected cash, so a short drawer is found that evening rather than at month end, right beside the day's tax summary.

What it does not do
- · There is no weighing-scale or price-embedded-barcode support. Pricing comes from the batch MRP or the party's rate, never from a label a scale has printed.
- · Tally data is imported once as a manual masters file (XML, CSV or Excel). There is no live connector, and vouchers are not imported automatically.
- · Payroll is not built, so counter staff wages post as an expense rather than being calculated, and the Desktop edition runs on Windows only.

How do I know the cash drawer is right at the end of the day?
Close the counter session and count by denomination. The software shows expected cash from the day's tenders against what you actually counted, states the difference, and places the day's taxable turnover and tax beside it — so any shortfall is investigated that evening, while everyone still remembers the bills.
