Questions about switching
Is QuickBooks still available in India?
Intuit discontinued its QuickBooks Online product for Indian customers in 2023, which is why many Indian businesses are migrating to a local, India-first alternative.
Does it cover Indian GST properly?
Yes — GST is the core: tax invoices correct by construction, e-invoice and e-way bill, direct GSTR-1/3B filing via your GSP, 2B reconciliation, plus a GST error catcher.
What does QuickBooks do better than LekhaPro?
a polished global cloud accounting product with strong automation, broad integrations, multi-user collaboration and good mobile apps and mature reporting and a large worldwide ecosystem. On the comparison above, QuickBooks also matches us on posted double-entry gl + chart of accounts and modern ui · light & dark. We would rather list those than pretend otherwise — if they are what your business turns on, QuickBooks is a reasonable choice and this page is not trying to talk you out of it.
When should I NOT switch from QuickBooks?
If your accountant is fluent in QuickBooks and your year-end depends on that fluency, the switching cost is real and it is yours to pay, not ours. If you need a public API to wire accounting into other systems, we do not have one. And if payroll must live in the same product, we have none at all. Those are three good reasons to stay.
Can I move my data over from QuickBooks?
Masters — customers, vendors, products — and opening balances come across; transaction history stays where it is, as a read-only archive. There is no automated import from QuickBooks today, and we would rather say so than oversell it. You start clean on a date you choose, which is why most businesses switch at a financial-year or quarter boundary.
What is the actual difference between LekhaPro and QuickBooks?
On the matrix above it comes down to works fully offline, full core in every plan, gst returns, e-invoice/e-way & 2b reconciliation and gst error catcher & notice-risk score. Underneath those rows the difference is one decision: everything posts to a single double-entry ledger that the returns, the reports and the AI all read from — so there is no second set of numbers anywhere in the product to reconcile.
Is LekhaPro cheaper than QuickBooks?
Often — our entry plan carries the whole double-entry core, GST returns, inventory and banking, with no separate AMC and no module that unlocks later. Compare what is inside the tier rather than the headline number, though, because that is where these products usually differ. Prices are shown ex-GST with the rate and gross beside them, and there is a 14-day trial with no card.
Will it keep working when the internet is down?
On the Desktop edition, entirely — the database is a file on your machine, so billing, accounting, GST and stock behave identically with the network unplugged. AI and billing are the only two things that reach out. The Cloud edition needs a connection, with the POS till the one deliberate exception.
How do I evaluate the two properly?
Run a fortnight of your own real documents through both. 14 days, no card. Enter your awkward cases rather than clean ones — the inter-state sale, the credit note, the scheme discount, the batch return — because those are where accounting products differ, and where a demo dataset is designed to be silent.
If it does not work out, can I leave?
Yes, and you should check this about any product including ours. On the Desktop edition your books are a database file on a disk you chose, with scheduled backups you control — stopping payment leaves you holding readable data. On Cloud, your data is isolated to your business and exportable from the reports it feeds.
