Why teams switch
A full business suite, not just filing
Billing, inventory with COGS and posted double-entry books in one place — not a compliance layer beside your accounting.
Works offline, data yours
The Desktop edition runs fully offline with books in local SQLite on your own machine; prefer the browser? The Cloud edition adds access anywhere.
Fair SME pricing
The full accounting + GST core from ₹249/mo, instead of compliance seats priced for large teams.

Questions about switching
Does it file GST returns like ClearTax?
Yes — GSTR-1/3B build correct by construction and file through your GST Suvidha Provider, with e-invoice (IRN), e-way bill and GSTR-2B reconciliation. It also keeps your full books, which a filing tool does not.
Is it better for a small business?
For an SME that wants billing, inventory and accounting together (not just filing), yes — one affordable suite instead of a compliance product plus separate books.
When should I NOT switch from Clear (ClearTax)?
If your accountant is fluent in Clear (ClearTax) and your year-end depends on that fluency, the switching cost is real and it is yours to pay, not ours. If you need a public API to wire accounting into other systems, we do not have one. And if payroll must live in the same product, we have none at all. Those are three good reasons to stay.
Can I move my data over from Clear (ClearTax)?
Masters — customers, vendors, products — and opening balances come across; transaction history stays where it is, as a read-only archive. There is no automated import from Clear (ClearTax) today, and we would rather say so than oversell it. You start clean on a date you choose, which is why most businesses switch at a financial-year or quarter boundary.
What is the actual difference between LekhaPro and Clear (ClearTax)?
On the matrix above it comes down to works fully offline, full core in every plan, posted double-entry gl + chart of accounts and gst error catcher & notice-risk score. Underneath those rows the difference is one decision: everything posts to a single double-entry ledger that the returns, the reports and the AI all read from — so there is no second set of numbers anywhere in the product to reconcile.
Is LekhaPro cheaper than Clear (ClearTax)?
Often — our entry plan carries the whole double-entry core, GST returns, inventory and banking, with no separate AMC and no module that unlocks later. Compare what is inside the tier rather than the headline number, though, because that is where these products usually differ. Prices are shown ex-GST with the rate and gross beside them, and there is a 14-day trial with no card.
Will it keep working when the internet is down?
On the Desktop edition, entirely — the database is a file on your machine, so billing, accounting, GST and stock behave identically with the network unplugged. AI and billing are the only two things that reach out. The Cloud edition needs a connection, with the POS till the one deliberate exception.
How do I evaluate the two properly?
Run a fortnight of your own real documents through both. 14 days, no card. Enter your awkward cases rather than clean ones — the inter-state sale, the credit note, the scheme discount, the batch return — because those are where accounting products differ, and where a demo dataset is designed to be silent.
If it does not work out, can I leave?
Yes, and you should check this about any product including ours. On the Desktop edition your books are a database file on a disk you chose, with scheduled backups you control — stopping payment leaves you holding readable data. On Cloud, your data is isolated to your business and exportable from the reports it feeds.
What does support look like after switching?
Email and WhatsApp, from an India-based team that reads ledgers rather than scripts. The realistic expectation for the first month is that things you did by muscle memory in Clear (ClearTax) take longer here — that is a real cost of switching, and pretending otherwise would just make the second week worse.
